Trend Watch: “Dress Up” | Home Accents Today

[ad_1]

Welcome to Trend Watch, a new Home Accents Today feature that stays ahead of the curve by alerting you to shifts in consumer attitudes and behavior that we think could potentially impact home furnishings down the road. We cull news and information from the world outside home furnishings — from fashion to architecture to food —and ask experts to predict what this potentially means for our own industry.

Trend Watch: “Dress Up”

The Trend: According to WWD, designers are signaling that spring is all about dressing up and going out. Expect bright colors, plays on texture, new silhouettes and statement-making accessories. “These themes are relevant as restrictions loosen across the globe,” said WWD editors Thomas Waller and Emily Mercer.

The Expert: Shayla Copas, national interior designer and author

The Expert’s view: With most of us wearing flats for two years during the pandemic, it only seems natural to “transition” back to high heels, said Copas. “Platforms offer to much comfort, but with the height so many of us desire,” she added.

As for pastels and bright colors, Copas has always been drawn to them and is excited to see those colors this spring. “I have noticed my favorite designers launching several yummy color collections, and with most of us staying home the majority of the time the last two years, I feel that pastels will do quite well because they represent a re-birth, she told Home Accents Today.

“Fashion and home always tend to go in the same direction regarding trends, and for that reason, I feel like we will see more layers trending in home and a push for more vivid, punchy pastels in the industry,” she said.

Koket‘s Prive day bed is “dressed up” with bronze and jeweled crystal bolsters.
