ITA managing director Carrie Dillon receives $10,000 check from Chuck Portaro, friend of independent sales rep Bud Frosh.
HIGH POINT – The family of independent upholstery fabric salesman Bernard William (Bud) Frosh has made a $10,000 donation to the ITA Educational Foundation in his honor.
Frosh, 95, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away peacefully at his home on July 17, 2021. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic (still selling on the road well into his 80s), his dry wit, his respect for his competitors, his knowledge of his profession and his genuine love of his customers.
Chuck Portaro, Frosh’s lifelong friend and a retired executive from Furnitureland South, and Anne Hood, director of merchandising at Regal Fabrics, added a line to his obituary that requested memorials be made in Frosh’s name to the ITA Educational Foundation. Since that time, Portaro said several significant donations have come in from his industry friends.
Frosh’s sister Barbara Felder and his two nieces Sue Ader and Beth Eisman then stepped up and made the $10,000 donation in his memory.
“We would like to express our deep gratitude to Mr. Frosh’s sister and his nieces for making such a generous donation to the ITA Educational Foundation,” said Carrie Dillon, ITA managing director. “It will be used to support the growth and development of future textile leaders.”
“This donation speaks to the importance of relationships in the textile industry and especially Mr. Frosh’s deep love for both his customers and competitors,” she added.
The foundation is committed to educating its members on topics relevant to their business as well as the growth and development of future professionals. This is accomplished through monthly educational webinars, competitions, scholarships and internships as well as opportunities for portfolio review and networking with industry professionals.
Contributions to the ITA Education Foundation in Frosh’s name are still being accepted and can be sent to 305 West High Avenue, MS-533, High Point, NC 27260 and noted Bud Frosh Memorial. The family will be advised of all donations.
